Overview

The Professional Law Course is the flagship qualification programme of the Ghana School of Law, designed to prepare law graduates for admission to the Ghana Bar. This intensive, practice-oriented course bridges academic legal education with the realities of legal practice, equipping candidates with the doctrinal mastery, procedural fluency, and ethical grounding required for professional excellence.

Course Objectives

Upon completion, candidates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate mastery of Ghanaian legal procedure and substantive law

  • Advocate effectively in civil and criminal proceedings

  • Apply professional ethics and regulatory standards in client representation

Admission Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Hold an LLB from an accredited institution (local or international)

  • Pass the Ghana School of Law entrance examination

  • Submit academic transcripts and supporting documents

  • Format: In-person instruction with supervised practicals

  • Location: Ghana School of Law campuses (Accra, Kumasi, Tamale)

  • Start Date: September 2026

  • Application Deadline: July 2026

Certification & Bar Admission

Successful candidates are awarded the Professional Law Certificate, qualifying them to be called to the Ghana Bar. This credential is a prerequisite for legal practice in Ghana and is recognized by the General Legal Council.

Application Process

Applications are submitted online via the Ghana School of Law portal. Required documents include:

  • LLB transcript and certificate

  • National ID or passport

  • Passport-sized photograph

  • Completed application form

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit the entrance exam and may undergo further screening.
