824 New Lawyers Called to the Bar

The Ghana School of Law proudly presented 824 candidates for enrollment as Barristers-at-Law and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of Ghana during the Call to the Bar ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre. Among the cohort were 453 female and 371 male candidates, including 48 Post-Call students, six persons with disabilities, journalists, and a 47-year-old Chinese national, Paul Chen.

Upholding Integrity and Service
Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie urged the new lawyers to uphold the core values of the profession, serving society with integrity and prioritizing the vulnerable and marginalized. He remarked:
"You have chosen a path that demands courage, but it is a path that leads to purpose and fulfilling greatness. May you serve with humility and purpose, and above all, let your integrity shine."

Notable Achievements and Alumni Highlights

  • Paul Chen, an alumnus of T. Ahmadiyya Secondary School and KNUST law graduate, relocated to Ghana at a young age. He expressed gratitude to lecturers and judges for their guidance during his challenging but rewarding law school journey.

  • Latifa Teiya Fuseini was named the overall best graduating student of the 2025 class, receiving the John Mensah Sarbah Memorial Prize and the Conveyancing Award. Her achievement marks the third consecutive year a KNUST-trained lawyer has earned the top national honor.

  • Obrempon Hima Dekyi XIV, Paramount Chief of the Upper Dixcove Traditional Area, became the first paramount chief from the Western Region to be called to the Bar. His call coincided with his birthday, marking a historic double celebration. Obrempon Hima Dekyi XIV holds a B.Ed in Science from the University of Cape Coast, an MSc in Oil and Gas Management from Coventry University, and an LLB degree from the University of Cape Coast.

The ceremony was attended by but not limited to members of the Judiciary, the General Legal Council, distinguished members of the Bar and Hon. members of parliaments, legal scholars,well-wishers and the media celebrating Ghana’s newest legal professionals.
